USB scales on Vantage?

I think what I had before was a SERIAL to USB converter and I created a Virtual USB port that read from COM.

In E10 is there a USB option

There are many USB - RS-232 adapaters available, but they generally are to make a USB port on a computer emulate an RS-232 port.

I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't work to make the USB port on the scale look like a rs-232 port.  Most likely, the USB on the scale is an HMI interface, like a barcode scanner.

We learned that Vantage is only configured to read scales that are
connected via Serial Port. All of our scales are USB. Is there a way
to modify Vantage so that it will accept a USB connected scale at our
Insite Manifest station. We have Mettler Toledo scales, and we tested
yesterday thru a COM port, but Vantage did not recognize the connection
so no data was transferred.

Vantage will not support USB, however I use Mettler Toledo scales and
all of them have both USB AND Serial connections. You need to make
certain that you set the port settings on the host PC to match the
Vantage port settings exactly. Go to your PC Device Manager/Ports and
look at the Properties of COM1. I have mine set as follows:

Bits Per Second: 9600

Data Bits: 7

Parity: Even

Stop Bits: 2

Flow Control: None

Make sure you set Vantage port settings up exactly the same way and your
scale should work.

Keep in mind that you only get the weight from the scale OR manually
enter the weight, you do not have the option to do both. My shipping
people were complaining that Vantage didn't grab the scale weight. I
spent hours getting my scale working and once I did I had to immediately
turn it off because the shipping people hated not being able to key in
the weight manually.

Has this changed with E905????  I am responded this OLD post from 2008
have you tried a hardware solution .. .like a DB9 to USB connector/conversion cable?

All I have is USB connections.   I thought I had worked on something a long time ago called Virtual USB or Virtual COM.
