Hello,
Is there any documentation available for setup the user security, menu security, and process security as best practices to setup in Epicor System?
The documentation on Epicweb is useful. The document âEpicor ERP Implementation User Guide 10.2.500â, has good chapters on security and startup configuration.
The technical reference guides are also useful. The âEpicor ERP System Administration Technical Reference 10.2.700â is also good. It has sections on user identity, passwords, security, and menu options.
Good luck!
Nate
Thank you.
Right or wrong here is my broad overview of Menu Security.
Create Security Groups for functions and departments. Security groups are much easier to maintain than allow and deny for specific users.
Special circumstances, try an additional security group.
Else you will be chasing down individual rights to each menu you had touched.
Easier to setup rights for new users if you know which group an example user is in.
Do this in test environment, document which menu items you assign, test as a user, do the same to live database.
TEST - Try to be a naughty user and right click menus and get to places you shouldnât be in.
Also added this âKinetic Layoutsâ to menu maintenance, since the earlier version would allow people into places that they shouldnât be, if the item was on their home page.
We deploy a department specific template for most cases.
Deny will override any allow. Similar to organizing Active Directory or File Shares.
