(Vantage 3.00.632) We just had an unusual error start and I was
hoping someone may have seen this before and have a solution.
When trying to print various reports, an error message pops up
stating COULD NOT LOAD DLL PROCEDURE PROPRINT.DLL. (3258). When we
check the OK box, another error box comes up indicating that the
output file could not be printed and is being saved to the vntgwork
folder. Print preview works fine and the txt file can be accessed and
printed.
This seems to be happening to all Report Builder reports but not on
all Crystal reports (can print job travellers and pick lists but can
not print inventory report or check register). It is happening on all
workstations, and stopping/restarting procontrol and rebooting the
server did not help.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
PROBLEM RESOLUTION:
There are several possible reasons for getting error 3258 when calling a
procedure located in a DLL.
Those reasons are as follows:
1) The CRPE32.DLL does not exist in the normal search path used by Windows
to find a DLL (i.e. current directory, windows system directory, and finally
the directories listed in the PATH environment variable.
2) The CRPE32.DLL itself uses other DLL's and those DLL's could not be
found.
3) On the workstation c:\windows\system locate the MFC42.DLL and verify that
it is at version 6.00.8267 or higher.
4) Try re-installing Windows 95 or Windows NT on the PC.
5) Try replacing all DLL files located in your Windows\System directory with
DLLs from another PC that is performing correctly. Make a backup of the
these dlls before you copy and paste the DLLs.
6) Have the PC looked at by Technician who can run specific diagnostic
utilities on the PC's Memory. (software such as CheckIt)
