Does anyone have the above setup? Please email me offline. I'm
curious as to how you have things setup for optimal performance.
With SQL on a seperate server I don't see any reason why you couldn't run it on a 64bit version.

On the same machine though your going to run into issues as OpenEdge and Vantage would be running in a 32bit emulated world and you could run into issues.

But on a seperate machine you don't have the memory constraints associated with the 32bit version of Windows/SQL.

Not sure of milage on a seperate server we are running SQL 2005 (32bit) on the same server and Vantage and supporting about 90 users.

You'll have network latency to deal with as the Vantage server is going to get the input transfer it to OpenEdge then across the network to SQL and vise versa when pulling info from the DB.

We are running the following in 64-bit Windows Server 2003
environments on 64-bit SQL Server 2005 with no problems.

- 8.00.810c (production)
- 8.03.305h (test)
- 8.03.403a (test)

There are no issues with the mixture of 32-bit and 64-bit. We found
the best performance to be in a single server configuration although
we haven't tested the two server setup in a long while.

Is anyone experiencing appserver issues? I cannot keep my live
database stable for more than a day or two at a time. The
appservers lock up or crash. We have had months of tuning from
Epicor which only seems to have exacerbated the problem. Please

We're definitely having similar stability issues with the
appservers...just not on SQL2005 or 64-bit hardware.....

Gary,

Did you upgrade from a prior version or is this a fresh install? We
may have identified the problem. I need someone else to test the
theory.
