BAQs are not my forte and I could use a nudge in the right direction.

I want to use the part and rcvdtl tables to return the LAST receiptdate for parts within a part number range

I can set up the BAQ with the tables and set the criteria on the parts.

How do I tell the BAQ to only give me the latest receiptdate?
You will need to have at least two tables in your query (which you do, but just saying).

Start with Part, and add RcvDtl.

In the Phrase Builder where you define the relations, change the "WhichItem" column in the relation header from "each" (the default), to "last".

Then on the panel where you define the sorting options outside of the relation builder, sort the query on part and then receiptdate in ascending order.

After selecting your tables in the phrase builder, you'll go to the table relations table.

On the left side you'll see "each" for WhichItem. Change this to last.

How do I tell the BAQ to only give me the latest receiptdate?
