I agree the duplicate is the easiest method.
If your rules are similar you can salvage them. For instance, if in
the first part there is a size selection and in the second part the
size will also be selected, but will call different parts you can do
this by changing the method. The rule will follow the material
sequence number.
Be careful if you are going to delete parts from the second parts
method. Make sure that you delete the rule from it in the
configurator before deleting the part in the method. If not the
rule will still be hanging out there. I learned this the hard way.
Basically:
1. Delete any rules before you delete any parts.
2. Change components on your method and the rule will follow the
material number.
