We are currently running Vantage 5.1 and want to upgrade it because of
the MRP issue.

I would like to have your opinions on the Vantage 5.2, 6.0 and 6.1.
What version should we go with?

I found some errors when do test upgrade to Vantage 6.1, report builder
could not handle "Format for field AvgBurdenCost has too may digits".

Which version is more stable and less bugs?

Are we going to upgrade to the new version to find out the bugs?

Thank you,
You will have some user procedure level changes in the 5.1 to 5.2. There are a number of cosmetic changes in 6.0 and even less from there to 6.1. Personally, mainly because Epicor support is now geared to respond to 6.1, I would go all the way to 6.1. But be sure to educate and work with the user base on a test system to avoid surprises. We went from 4.0 to 5.2 so things like Engineering Workbench threw us for a loop. 5.2 to 6.0 and 6.1 were trivial compared to 4.0 to 5.2. 6.1 is the logical parking place prior to eventually going to 8.0. It also will help with the screen customizations to have some experience prior to the more robust options in 8.

The RB issues you have to live with and are not a big deal. It does not affect running the reports unless you are making use of the new levels of precision in the DB. RB, because it is going away with Progress 10/Vantage 8.0, was deemed to not be an issue when they added decimal places to some fields. When editing reports you get used to clicking on "OK" six times when opening any report using the Part table. It was a calculated decision by development to add decimals at the expense of ignoring the warnings. So this is strictly speaking not a bug.

Every version has its own degree of bugginess but 6.1 is where any degree of focus on fixing them will be.

I'd go to 6.1 if I were you. Epicor will suggest you get to that point
prior to going to 8.0 anyway, and it is the only one of the later
versions seeing any patching activity, but even that I think is minimal
at this point. 8.0 is taking the focus of development right now.
We've been on 6.1 since Novemeber and aside from a few users getting
kicked out while printing Crystal Forms every once in a while, it has
been going fine.

All versions you list won't see any more patches so they all are at there
most stable point in time. The report builder issue you mention is really no
big deal. It doesn't effect the reports when you edit them or run them you
just get the message boxes when you open a report. Just ignore them and use
report builder like in the past.
