Vantage 6.1 - DRM and Corrective Actions

I hate to provide these answers that discuss buying additional modules, and I have not worked with 6.

In 8, we can specify part classes or individual parts be inspected BEFORE being stocked. I believe this is part of the QA module in V8.
I have not seen a way to make it time based. I suppose adding to the QA inspection feature, a BPM (v8) could be written to inspect that flag and search for previous dates, but seems cumbersome unless tied to a specific process.

I do not know how many of these you typically get, but maybe the QA inspection flag could be used to force the inspection, and the tracking of the passage of time be done manually or through a report run every so often which could do the calculations for the time conditions. And, in v8, I could schedule that report to show me every week or so what part to remove from requiring inspection.

I see. I haven't come across any way of monitoring that yet in 6.1, andhaven't looked for it in v8.x (our testing is still on-going). Our QC manager just asked me if there's any way to red flag a purchased
part that has been rejected through the DMR or had a Corrective Action
written against it so that if that material shows up on a job or in
receiving within a specific time period it alerts people to watch more
closely.

I have never worked with any part of the DRM or Corrective Action so I
thought if anyone had an idea or a report...anything, I'd check here
first.

Thanks in advance,

Hi, Judy -

In v6.1, there is a "Global Alert" that can be configured to send an
email when "Received Material Has Failed Inspection"

This would be a trigger to the QC department and buyer to get together
and discuss what to do next. My company is *just* beginning to discuss
implementing the functionality of dropping material into the "Inspection
Processing" queue when it's received, instead of being dropped right
into the first/next operation.

Is this what you're looking for?

Thank you for your response, Ari.

I'm not sure, but I'll look at it. What they appear to be looking
for is a way of knowing, say three months later, that the last time
the material appeared on a job, or the last time it was received,
there were issues with it.

Short of that - what I think we'll end up doing, if it comes down to it,
will be to train the buyer to work with the Purchase Advisor tools and
look at past POs/receipts/etc...
