Vantage 8.03 Speeds for Citrix

I am hesitant to say that you are good to go with those citrix servers.

The RAM seems a bit too low for any kind of heavy use in my opinion.

Especially if you plan on running 25 users per citrix server for a total of
75 users accross the 3 citrix servers?

Unless I am misreading your intent and it is 25 users across all 3, with 8
or so per server, then that shouldn't likely be much of a problem with the
specs of those citrix servers.

We are upgrading from Vantage 5.2 to Vantage 8.03 next month. I'm
curious if anyone has any recommendations or comments on our Citrix
client setup. Our company has 4 plants. All 4 of these sites currently
use Citrix to connect to Vantage and will also use this once we upgrade.
Below is our current setup. I'd appreciate any advice on this setup and
if you see any problems. This is for a progress db with 60 Vantage users
and 30 MES users. I've heard conflicting stories from Epicor concerning
how much load a citrix server will handle at a decent performance level.

Server Specs

Number of Servers: 1

OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition

RAM: 12 GB

Processor: Dual Intel Xeon Duo Quad Core 2.5 GHz (8 Processers)

Network Card: Load Balancing Gigabit

Citrix Servers for Vantage 8.03 Client

Number of Servers: 3

OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition

RAM: 4GB

Processor: : Dual Intel Xeon Duo Quad Core 2.5 GHz (8 Processers)

Network Card: Load Balancing Gigabit

Basically 1 Citrix server will have about 25 users on it at one time.
I'm hoping this setup will support that, but wanted to see if anyone had
any other recommendations.

I think client performance should be just fine. I wouldn't expect
Citrix server load to go above 50% with that level of overprovisioning.

You can find specific terminal server (Citrix) hardware requirements for
processor & memory requirements for different numbers of users in the
8.03 hardware requirements doc that can be downloaded from Epicor.

I've used that, but I wanted to hear what other companies with a similar
setup may be using .

Travis,
Â
I have no problem with Citrix at all. We have China, Missouri and Wisconsin all working off the Citrix Server.
Â
Of course you do have to consider the size of your farm. I have a 3 Citrix Server Farm. My setup is 15 people per server.
Â
The server has 8 GB Ram, 2 3.2ghz CPU's, Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition, Citrix 4.5.
