Hi All,

I am trying to achieve Epicor 9 Auto Complete Search (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsDqN6Cv2P0).

But, struggling with below error

37000:[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]The multi-part identifier "Part.PartNum" could not be bound.
Stored procedure failed execution.See previous errors for more information (14958).

Programming Language : VB, Epicor 9.05 700B. Below is the code I have copied.
(Note: It complies fine. But, when I create a new order line, and press any letter in the ultracombo box, error occurs)

Step 1) Added UltraCombo and EpiBinded to OrderDtl.PartNum
Step 2) Added BOReader Reference,
BLConnectionpool reference
Step 3) At class level :
Private read As Epicor.Mfg.Lib.BOReader = nothing
Step 4) At InitializeCustomCode method:
read = New Epicor.Mfg.Lib.BOReader(SalesOrderForm.Session.ConnectionPool)
Step 5) Added a PartSearch Method()

Private Sub PartSearch()
Try
Dim lst As DataSet = read.GetList("Part", "Part.PartNum MATCHES('" + epiUltraComboC1.Text &
"
')","PartNumPartDescription,ClassID,UnitPrice")
epiUltraComboC1.DataSource = lst
epiUltraComboC1.ValueMember = "PartNum"
epiUltraComboC1.DisplayMember = "PartNum"
Catch ex as Exception
Msgbox(ex.message)
End Try
End Sub

Step 6) At Keypress event of the ultracombo added below piece of code
if(epiUltraComboC1.Text.Length>=1) then
PartSearch()
end if

How to handle this exception?

Does Vantage have the functionality for "Auto Fill"? Meaning that if I
start typing a customer's name will it show me a list of possible
matches as I continue to type the name.

Thanks,

To take it one step further, is there any way it could be altered slightly so
you can either type the part number or the part description in the field and it
load them up.

In other words if the results came up like ...

WIDGET 1Â Â Â Widget for other widget
WIDGET 2Â Â Â Widget for the smaller widget
WIDGET 3Â Â Â etc
WIDGET 4
WIDGET 5

Is there any wat that is will load the part if I were to type eg. widget for ...

This methos wouldnt be too useful for parts but it would very useful for
customers so you dont have to remember the customer ID.

All Right,

Here its the stuff, you should from this be able to modify the query to do
what you last asked about the Description.

1. Hide, the original PartID Field
2. Replace it with an EpiUltraCombo and bind it to PartNum on OrderDtl.
3. Declare a class level BOReader

static BOReader read = null;

4. On InitializeCustomCode() go ahead and connect the BOReader

read=new BOReader(((Session)SalesOrderForm.Session).ConnectionPool);

5. Create the search Function

private static void PartSearch()
{

//From Bo Reader GetList "Table", "WHERE CLAUSE" COLUMNS TO RETURNS"

DataSet lst = read.GetList("Part","Part.PartNum MATCHES
('"+epiUltraComboC1.Text+"*')","PartNum,PartDescription,ClassID,UnitPrice");

//You can modify the above query with an OR to look in
Part.PartDescription or other fields

//Set the result to be the Data Source of the ultraCombo

epiUltraComboC1.DataSource=lst;

epiUltraComboC1.ValueMember = "PartNum";
epiUltraComboC1.DisplayMember = "PartNum";
}

6. epiUltraComboC1_KeyUp or KeyPress event call the function

if(epiUltraComboC1.Text.Length>=2)

{
SearchOnPartAdapterFillDropDown();
}

Some times it pays to be utterly curious, a while back I was looking through
a trace and I saw that sometimes for drop down menu's and such the trace had
a call to BOReader so I investigated and figured out what it does, its
pretty sleek, because unlike using adapter.getRows, or adapter.GetList you
get to decide what columns to bring back.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Hi Jose,

I am not seeing the public static class Script //Class Starts here at the top of the Script Editor? Should it be under '// Add Custom Module Level Variables Here ** ?

Thanks

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
There is a new feature coming in 9.05 (hopefully not 9.1) called "infozones" which allows you to execute a BAQ (of your design) based on what has been typed in a box by mousing over a "zone" (part of the text box). It then displays the output of the BAQ in a pickable box below the control. This gives you a very quick way to search for items in a highly customizable way. Epicor demonstrated this feature at the Usability Summit held in July.
