Vantage -Automatic email when more than 10% scrap on Job and/or

It looks like Greg supplied the code for a .p program.
To handle the email alert for a BAM on PODetail table.
When you set up a BAM, you can specify a table, a field, rules, Alert checkbox and finally the specify .p program & path.
something like this - \\servername\epicor\server\ud\xxx.p

But it sounds like you want to use another table and trigger an email based on a scrap condition?
If so, principal is the same but you'll need to write your own .p program. You can put rules in the BAM or the .p program.

Hope this helps

Hi
Â
My problem is all of it really.
Â
In shop alerts I can see that there is one for excess scrap, but the problems that I have are:
Â
1) Where do you define what is excess scrap and what is acceptable?
2) How do these shop alerts trigger emails?
3) Where do the emails get sent?
Â
Thanks,
Â

Chris:

This is an email I made for an alert program. You put them in the \\epicorserver\servershare\Server\ud<file:///\\epicorserver\servershare\Server\ud> folder and call them from the global alert. I got most of it off a post on the group called working smarter and not harder.

You could calculate the total scrap on any scrap and if it doesn’t meet the 10% level then set the send email to false.

I don’t know where the scrap for jobs is kept, so I can’t help there.

acceptable scrap %age before the email is triggered.

We also dont know how to set the emails up so they are sent to a particular
person.

Any help would be appreciated (preferably with step by step guide).

Thanks,

CHRIS

Sorry - remembered I got an answer to this.
Â
Does anyone have any idea how to implement the instuctions Greg uploaded? And how to get it to work with 10% scrap?
Â
Where do you configure which email addresses different global alerts are sent to?

Â
Chris,

Is your problem with the email aspects, or the 4GL aspects of calculating
the scrap?

If it's the email, which is sounds like, Greg Payne just uploaded a document
to the advanced section which should be able to walk you through this. That
would be a good starting point.

Subject: Vantage -Automatic email when more than 10% scrap on Job and/or
Operation

Hi All

I would like an automatic email to send when more than 10% scrap is recorded
on any job and/or operation.

I.e. at operation 10 if the job was for 100 and 11 were scrapped I want an
email. Even if person A scrapped 5 three weeks ago and person B scrapped 6
parts today.

I also want an automatic email if e.g. 3 parts were scrapped off at
operation 10 and another 8 were scrapped off at operation 40.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We can see the global alerts can do this but we dont know where to set the
acceptable scrap %age before the email is triggered.

We also dont know how to set the emails up so they are sent to a particular
person.

Any help would be appreciated (preferably with step by step guide).

Thanks,

Hi All
Â
Is there not an easier way to get an email to trigger when excess scrap (10%)Â is reported on a job or operation (even if job is for e.g. 100 parts and person 1 scraps 2 two weeks ago and then somebody else scraps 50 on a different operation today?
Â
There is some kind of set up in global alerts for 10% excess scrap, but we dont know how to trigger the email.
Â
There are also global alerts for previous operation not completed etc which we dont know how to get.
Â
Thanks,

Â
