Vantage Favorites Icons Disappear

Got this fix from support. Copying the MSComCtl.ocx file from the
Mfgsys60\ocx folder to the windows\system32 folder did the trick for
us.

Thanks for all the replys. Nice to know we weren't alone on this one.

Brian

On one workstation the icons within vantage do not show. The
description of the icon shows, for example, job tracker, order
tracker, etc, but the icon does not show. If you put the mouse
cursor over the area that the icon should be, a square is highlighted
and you can press it to open Vantage.
Please send me info on how to correct.

On some machines, the icons for the Favorites are missing, as well as
the menu tree icons.

RESOLUTION

There are two files that need to be replaced in the \windows\system32
directory on the client.

MSComCtl.ocx
MSVBVM60.dll

These files can be copied from the \mfgsys60\dll and \mfgsys60\ocx
directories.

OK, don't anybody think I've been nipping the sauce at work, I wish I
had a bottle on days like this but anyway...

Has anybody ever had their Vantage Favorites Icons disappear. The
labels for the icons still exist and if you click where the icon
should be they still work, the picture that should be there is
missing.

We've seen this happen now on 4 machines. Today I installed a file
from Microsoft Office Update that I need to make an Access DB
function properly on a Win XP machine and after rebooting the Access
problem was fixed, but a while later the user called me and said his
Vantage Favorites icons were missing. I don't have anything as
concrete as this in the other 3 instances because I wasn't doing
anything to them right before the disappearence.

I think I asked about this several months ago after the first
occurance. Vantage support seemed to think I was crazy when I asked
them about it. We ended up wiping out the machine and rebuilding it
and everything was fine. Figured it was just a software glitch.
Recently we had it happen to another machine that my boss just set up
for a user. He went through the process of setting it up again and
they disappeared again. He finds it very strange that it is only
happening to us.

BTW, we are at Vantage 6.0 and the problems are happening on WIN XP
clients.

I going to call support again, but I wanted to see what you guys had
to say as well. Only 20 more minutes to go, and I will be finding a
bottle!

Hey Brian,
I called Epicor about this today. We just upgraded the
operating systems on some systems and the same thing happened here.
Epicor said that they do not have permission to the icon files.
Uninstalling and re-installing should cure the problem. I will be
trying this tomorrow.

Hi Brian,

I show no Epicor icons in my Vantage application. They simply disappeared one day- Just as you
say the label is there and it works but the picture is not there.

I also get an annoying message

"object" does not fit in parent frame "object"

message very very frequently. Must have something to do with screen resolution.
Anyone else have this problem?

We've had this and I did fix it, but I can't remember what I did. I think
it's something to do with OCX's. Try re registering the OCX's using
regocx.exe in the vantage directory or re-installing vantage after doing a
full uninstall and cleaning the registry of any mention of progress and
vantage.

Hope this helps.

Brian,
Please give support a hard time about this. I had called on this almost
a year ago. The fix was to reinstall. Support knew that at the time, I
called back to close the call out with the answer. I believe the answer
came from the group. The problem is a DLL or something gets replaced
when you install office, or a service pack after Vantage. A simple
client reinstall should fix it.
Good luck,
