Vantage lockups when printing a Crystal Report

Just a idea I have used. I delete the temp files in a logon script. As users
login to the server the temp files for epicor are deleted.

Martin, and others experiencing this problem,

I inserted the following commands in the AUTOEXEC.BAT on every machine that
runs Vantage client:

@Echo Cleaning up Vantage garbage...
deltree /Y c:\vntgwork >NUL
deltree /Y c:\windows\temp >NUL
mkdir c:\vntgwork >NUL
mkdir c:\windows\temp >NUL

As you can see, it simply deletes the VNTGWRK folder and the WINDOWS\TEMP,
thereby deleting their contents in one foul sweep, and recreates empty
folders. This cleared up 95% of all client lockups that we suffered while
attempting to print, since the folders are cleared of all those temp files
that seem to interfere with each other.

Hope this helps!

Good afternoon all.

We're currently experiencing a lot of lockups when users try and print a
crystal report. The problem is not specific to one report nor is it
specific to what operating system the users are on and it doesn't happen all
the time! When they try and print progress just stops responding and you
have to kill the application on the client. The reports themselves aren't
corrupt as I can still edit them and save them without problem. If anyone
has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

When I have had this it has always been printer driver related. Try adding the printer again to one user's PC but force driver to be something very generic and old such as for a HP laser to use LaserJet II. CR is validated against a very small set of printer drivers (4-5 I was told) and beyond that they make no promises. I've had users work sometimes and not others until I changed driver.

I've noticed some Progress aborts go away if you delete all files/folders
both in the user's Window's and Vantage's temp directory. Obviously, get out
of all applications before doing so but Windows will prevent deletion of a
file that's open. These "residue" files sometimes affect the current running
of reports.

Martin,

I also am having the same problem. If you find an answer please let me
know. This happens at least once a day! Previously someone suggested I
look at my joins - I did on mine but I did not see anything wrong.
