Vantage manufacturing environment poll

Mike,

Here at ELECPAC, we are a multi-facited manufacturer. We have our own
machine shop fabricating connector components to feed a bench assembly
department. We also have our own plating department which has bench workers
preparing parts for plating.

I'm curious to see how many Vantage users have the following manufacturing
environment (department and/or workcenters):

An assembly area with multiple employees (crew size greater than 1) clocking
into the same job/assembly/operation.

In this assembly area there would NOT be one primary piece of capital
equipment.
Potentially just a series of work benches, simple conveyor system or misc.
(inexpensive) hand equipment.

-OR-

Are there any Vantage users out there who consider themselves pure assembly
houses?
(e.g. circuit board component assembly, box builders where the customer
provides
the components, wire, boxes and you supply the labor to assemble, etc.)

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

We have a sorting department that is just as you describe. Series of work
benches, some simple conveyor system to view parts as they go by. Each bench
or conveyor is assigned as Work Center number.

Mike,
with all due respect, wouldn't a better place to put this "just
curious" stuff be on the polls area in the yahoogroups page? There are 755
users in this group, and if everyone responded to your post, we
would be overwhelmed with messages. The polls area is designed for this
kind of
activity. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but it makes sense to me.
Let me know if you think I'm off base.
Thanks,
Mike,

We at Stremel fit into your first description. Assembling is not our main
business (though we do occasionally take on pure assembly work), but is part
of our fabrication process. As far as work centers, where normally we have
a work center tied to a piece of capital equipment, our assembly work
centers are actually different types of assembly work (1601 is part mark,
1602 is hardware installation, etc). We do have operations where two people
would be punching in on the same operation at the same time.
