Hi All,

We've been having strange things going on with job costing in Vantage since
day one (Dec 1999.) Even increasing balances in the WIP accounts, account
closing balances that don't match the detail that should be driving
them, odd final costs on the Production Detail Report, etc.

In one of the extreme cases, our Production Detail Report shows an actual
material cost of $22,000. If you add up all the material transactions
below, they come to about $104,000. Just a little discrepancy, no?!

Epicor support is investigating now. But I think I've found a serious bug
in Vantage's cost accumulation. It looks like transactions that should ADD
to the actual costs on a job, instead wipe out the previously accumulated
total and replace it with only the current transaction's value. So if you
have $50k of material, and receive a 0.05 washer to a job, it may now have
a total material cost of 0.05. Additionally, when the job is closed, 5
Cents instead of $50K is moved to COS!

I have put together a report that totals all the material and subcontract
transactions for every job and assembly, and compares them with the "This
Level Actual" figures in JobAsmbl. We have a lot of jobs that appear to
have problems. Would anyone else care for a copy of the report to try
themselves? (this is still Vantage 3, BTW, though it will run on 4)

Or maybe my logic is incorrect. Here are the PartTran details I think
should be accumulating into WIP:
WIP Material: STK-ASM, ADJ-MTL, DMR-MTL, INS-MTL, PUR-MTL, STK-MTL, ADJ-PUR
WIP Subcontract: ADJ-SUB, DMR-SUB, INS-SUB, PUR-SUB, ADJ-PUR

I'd really like to see if anyone else is having similar problems. Or if
you want to tell me my logic is screwed, and everything is A-OK that would
be great, too!

Wayne,

I have not had any problem here and our controller seems to tie EVERYTHING
out. However, I would like to run your report to see if there is something
we are missing, or if I can help you find something you may be missing. Did
you post this report? If not, email it to me directly and I'll run it and
let you know what I find...

Sarah
Wayne,

I'd be interested in trying this report too. Please post it or email it to
me.

Wayne,

I think we may have the same problem since October 1999. Would you
email me the report or post it on the board.
