Vantage

How do you tag specific sales order lines to send an alert that this
line and release has shipped. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chuck
Does anyone use progress payments with customers? We have
huge projects sometimes and we want to be able to bill the customer at
certain stages of the job. Accounting hasn't figured a way to do it except
for creating a part.

Thanks in advance

You have two choices in Vantage, You can use Deposit Billings or Advance
Payment Billings.

The Deposit Billings get applied to the order header. I use this option for
all progress payments.

The Advance Payment Billings get applied to a specific order line.

Your configuration should be set up that these billings credit a deferred
revenue account. When the order ships the deferred revenue account is
relieved and credited to sales income. The invoice will reflect this
activity.

This is really simple to use.

I remember a lot of discussion regarding ODBC the length of index
descriptions the other day. I am trying to set up ODBC in Vantage 5.0 and
have found that Epicor has a fix program called odbcfix.r (clever, huh) that
addresses this issue.

The fix can be obtained from Vantage Support.

I hope this helps if anyone is still having problems.

We have progress billings on most of our orders and we use the "Advance
Billings" in Vantage. They have always worked well for us. In 5.1 you can
set milestones on your projects and these invoices will be generated for you
when the milestones are reached.

No Gil it's not. It's a non-stock manufactured part. I don't see anything
wrong with the setup.

Can anyone explain this to me? Why can you add purchased parts which don't
have any part masters to jobs and you can do the same in purchase orders but
you can't add any to a sales order? If you do Vantage treats them as
manufactured parts. We have to create parts in part file maintenance and
we'll never sell those parts again.

thanks

I have the same issue. Another option is to create a job that will
capture all the custom purchase parts and then just transact it from WIP

We've done that too. I just think it's a wasted step. You have a "Purchased
Direct" option in Job Entry, I think you should have the same for sales
orders.

Shirley it is Yahoo's new meat product prevention system

Can we please oh please get this thing turned off for our group.

I have tried to respond to Shirley's email twice.
Both times they got sent back to me.
The first rejected email was amusing, the second started to get my temper up.
Now we will try a 3rd time

Sorry about the.......

I logged into the Yahoo Group Vantage web page and lo and behold my
messages are showing there!
I find this odd, as Yahoo's automated email responses say they are
both spam and undeliverable.
Prior to this I was just working out of my email software.
I will try this message on the Post Message Page of the Group

Yahoo's group software is what strips off "sent" attachments but since they run the show they can insert their own, just like they insert advertising. Apparently this is what SpamGuard is doing to "inform" that something may be Spam but still allowing receipt incase it is a false positive. If you trusted SpamGuard you might set email filters (as in Outlook) to send messages with "[spam]" in the subject to another folder.

I notice that certain people's message are getting tagged as spam all the time. I wonder if their criteria is IP address based rather than trigger words. In any event, the rate of false positives is far too high and SpamGuard is more trouble than it is worth. With a registered users only list like this why should there ever be spam in the first place?
