VantageBasic Form (SCR IDEA)

All kidding aside, whatever VantageBasic lacks, progress more than makes up
for, especially if you have provision.

HaHa!! That's what Epicor Marketing *wants* you to think! I remember it
looked really schweet in the conference room sales demo (remember the
little "VB" graphic) and we were looking forward to all the elaborate
customizations we'd be able to easily implement with it. .... that and the
report builder (sold us 5 seats) that everyone could use, the EDI that
would do something useful, all the easy to use cost reports, etc.

Ahh well... honestly, it did have relatively few nasty surprises for a
product of its complexity.

How many would support an SCR that would change the Term "VantageBasic" to
"VantageScript" or some other term that does not infer a programming
language?

The term VantageBasic confuses many beginning vantage users (including
myself) into thinking that it is a version of BASIC.

Vantage Basic is a Scripting language, that does not support logic at all,
and hardly has any resemblance to BASIC (Beginners ALL PURPOSE Symbolic
Instruction CODE)

It is useful, in that it can pass arguments to progress programs, the
progress programs in turn can then do marvelous things based on the
arguments passed, but in and of it self, Vantage Basic is not a programmming
language. It is rather a Script Interpreter.

To answer your question, Eric, you would place a button on the form that
calls a progress program. The progress program would get the date, time,
and user, and append those values to the Editor Box. I have not written
such a program myself, but many other vantage users have.

I am looking to make a VB Form that has a editor box and I would
like to be able to make a button that creates a time / User stamp
that would add to the bottom of the editor box. Has anybody did
this or knows how to do this I would apreciate the help. Thanks
