You can also use the progress 4GL language. I used a combination of Crystal
Developer, Visual Basic and 4GL code to write a bin label program, as well
other programs that provide a view of the database. We may implement ODBC
in 5.1 when we get there, as it is said to be more reliable and more secure,
but for now, I prefer using the Progress Database's native language to
communicate with the DB.

Does anybody have any clues or had success with viewing the data in
the Progress db outside of the Vantage software? I want to have
a 'live' view of the parts that are in my bins. We have tried in the
past and it seemed that Progress was not truly ODBC compliant. We
even tryed the trial version they had on their web site and it did
not work. Guess what, we didn't buy it either.
