Volo viewer - autocad

Thanks Patrick and David. We are implementing AutoVue and Document
Management Module, but I had hoped to utilize this in the interim.

John,

VoloView Express doesn't give the same control over printing compared to
VoloView 2. We found it necessary to upgrade to the full version of
VoloView (currently ver.2) to acheive the control pver our print quality.
We have a wide variety of drawing sizes which were formatted to a variety
of
output devices. Voloview 2 supports system printers, fitting to a page
and
setting the drawing to monochrome. It is kind of a (AutoCad LT)-LT.
Express is really only effective as a viewer and not as a bridge to your
printer.

I'm not sure about Volo Viewer but in in AutoVue you can over ride the pen
widths with minimums. We use .01, I have not found such a setting on the
screens for Volo Viewer.

I have been observing the group since August and found it to be a valuable
resource. We commence implementation of Vantage 5.1 in March.

I downloaded VOLO VIEWER after reading the thread last week. We want to
access drawings over our VPN and print them locally. I'm fine with
accessing
the drawings however I cannot find a way to set the print quality locally.
It appears that you need a plotter otherwise you get default pen weights
which are too light to read. Any ideas?

If your using an HP printer you can change the dots per inch to fewer dots.
When you select print go into properties/Advanced/Print Quality and change
600 to 300. This will give you thicker lines. Hope this helps.

John,

We just went through the exact same issue and were unable to resolve the
issue. I believe there is a upgrade/pro version of VoloView that gives you
this option but you have to pay for that version. Funny how that works.

Taking the same drawing and printing it using AutoView with the "Default"
pen settings the prints came out perfectly. And no, AutoView is not free.

There is no such thing as a free lunch ?

There is something to be said to having all your engineering documents
published as PDF's. If you purchase AutoVue don't think all your problems
are solved. We have had problems with AutoVue not printing symbols, line
arrows, etc... properly. Even though I test AutoCAD with AutoVue to try to
make sure AutoVue is compliant with AutoCAD when I upgrade. I still have
issues and have install AutoCAD on my production schedulers PC to properly
print a Shop Floor Print onto the back of a Traveler. AutoVue just released
version 16 which is suppose to fix some of my problems.
