"Watching" a Field in a BPM

In version 9, Epicor kind of combined BPMs and BAMs, but pre 9 you are stuck with a BAM for field level changes unless there is a specific BO method available for the field change you want.

Subject: [Vantage] "Watching" a Field in a BPM

Â
How do I write a BPM directive that watches a field for changes?

I basically want to trigger a BPM if one of three fields in OrderRel
changes.

This does nothing:

the ttOrderRel.RequestD ate field has been changed from any to any

The docs are vague but I'm guessing that this isn't evaluating. Do I
have to use a BAM for this? I thought you do could everything a BAM
does in a BPM.
