Way OT- WinFax PRO-10.0/WXPHome

I thought of this but this may be a short term problem.

Is Vtapi ActiveX a viable solution? I found that last night on the web but
could't tell by the description if it would work or how easy it was to
install.

Wayne,

Yea I know this sounds obvious but..............
The savings of not using lots of inkjet cartridges is going to pay for a
seperate phone line just for fax purposes.

Good Morning Group!

Sorry for this post but if anyone knows a work around for this problem,
they
are probably here.

My wife works out of the home. Due to the nature of her business we have
been getting a ton of Fax's to our stand alone fax machine which is an ink
jet. We are using a piggy back phone line and a distinctive ring for
automatic fax pick up.

To say the least it has been slow and chewing up ink cartridges left and
right.

So- I decided to get WinFax Pro and use the computer as the fax receiver
and
print to a laser jet. However, I was told by US Robotics and Symantec
that
modem's could no longer decipher a distinctive ring after Win ME because
Microsoft removed the Vtapi layer from the OS.

Question is:

Is there Fax soft ware out that has the Vtapi layer drivers other than
WinFax?
Is there third party software (preferably Free or shareware) that will do
this?
Symantec mentioned Fax software that uses DRon/DRoff, is this an option?
If
so how does this work?
Or am I just stuck having the Faxer call and advise us that they are
sending
a Fax?

Thanks for any advise!
