What are common ways to integrate with salesforce or engage Epicor users in service industry?

Looking to determine common ways that other companies who engage in service.

How did you design your system / architecture?

If you do Preventative Maintenance work under contracts paid up front and also ad hoc billable service work, how do you accommodate both?

What modules do you use and why?

Do you integrate with salesforce?

Do you use some preset integration features, pre built solutions or premapped fields? or starting from scratch on creating all custom API connections? Why or why not?

Have any of your clients delt with billable and non-billable (or billed in advance) service jobs?
Did they deal with different tax rates by location and differing by materials vs labor?

Hi,

We have done billable and non billable labour and materials. We have also done fixed cost labour, fixed cost travel and fixed cost job.

We have a solution for taking payment for the call, but have not done prepaid, however we are currently working on a deposit process which is nearly the same.

For the different tax rates, we have a solution where by instead of just creating an invoice for a service call cost, it splits them out, so you have a line for labour and a line for each materials.

This allows for different tax rates on each material, which is helpful for the expenses.
