What's the purpose of Production Activity tools?

Hi guys,

We’re looking at Epicor tools to help us track job performance, and I came across the Production Activity family - Production Activity Entry, Production Activity Tracker, Production Activity Summary Tracker, and Production Planner Workbench.

What is the purpose of them? Looking at Epicor’s KB0038506 ‘Production activity tracker, setup and how it works’, it seems like it’s whole bunch of extra steps to create separate production activities (we’re using MES for recording labor/qty).

If jobs are managed with the Job & Multi-Resource Scheduling Boards, wouldn’t that set the daily plan?

We’re a low volume large assembly type of manufacturer (truss buildings, greenhouses), mostly make to stock but for specific orders… Thanks for the help!

Hi guys - From the crickets, I’m guessing nobody uses this? Confirming that would be helpful too. Thanks!

I did some research initially into it. It is supposed to be used for Lean processing and optimising operations and time. However, getting the users to understand it was where we just put it aside. Will tackle it at some later time maybe.

Thanks

Thank you, Vinay.

Production Planner Workbench is totally different then the rest. Production Activity tracking can be used to put together goals/schedules for resources/resource groups/shifts. As users enter labor/qty into Epicor as normal then the qty/hours populate the produciton activity automatically based on their resource/group/etc.
