Where are the Crystal Report defenitions in ver 8.03?

If you modify the canned reports and keep them in the same location where
they were, they will be overwritten by the canned reports every time you do
a Vantage upgrade or apply a Vantage patch. We always rename the reports
that we change and add a Report Style to include the modified report. Then
we set the new report up as the default.

I had to redo several report modifications the first time I went from
803.305f to 803.305j. That was not a good week, I had someone in my office
complaining every few minutes until I got them all changed back. Then I was
on the phone with support to make sure it (my report modifications being
overwritten) never happened again.

Hope this saves someone a little pain.

Jeff

you wouldnt 'need' to per se..depends on why you modified the data
definition, usually it is to bring in additional tables or fields for
display in the report. If this was the case you would have to then make some
changes to your report to show the new data you brought in.--- In

Thanks for the help.

If you update the def wouldn't you then need to update the RPT file anyway?

Your right I guess if changed the calculation on some random field you
wouldn't have to update the report.
