How do you use a wildcard in the query phrase of a BAQ?

in the following, I just used the asterisk character, but I guess it doesn't work.

For Each OrderHed where ( OrderHed.SalesRepLi st = '*dist10*' OR OrderHed.SalesRepLi st = '*e117*' OR OrderHed.SalesRepLi st = '*e125*' OR OrderHed.SalesRepLi st = '*e140*' OR OrderHed.SalesRepLi st = '*e300*') no-lock.

orderhed.salesrepli st might have:
dist10
dist10~e117
e117~e100~e78
need to return true for any of those three examples.

If you know a better way to check multiple sales rep codes in that field salesreplist, please help me out :)
