We have our epicor consultants apparently stumped… they charged me for 10 hours and then just stopped responding!
Our Balance Sheet WIP does not match our G/L.
I have combed through every individual Job to make sure it is closed, I have checked other job cost adjustment/MFG-VAR accounts, ran WIP with “Both” Cleared and “No” cleared. Jobs are completed, closed, qty matches, labor all submitted, etc.
This is the second month and I’m at a loss.
We have jobs showing completed, closed, receipt, shipped and there are still costs sitting in WIP. how is this possible?
Where else should I look to find transactions to make Balance Sheet and WIP to match?
It has been weeks of trying to find the answer, anyone have thoughts?
Have you reviewed the dates of the transactions? My guess is that $$s were added after shipments/received to inventory/received to job transactions happened. Costs are calculated at time of transaction.
What’s the best way to review that? WIP/Recon? And then when they are in there as such, how do we clear out the remaining balance? I’ve chosen to capture all outdated transactions during capture but they do not move.
Yes, WIP/Recon should show you when the transactions happened.
As to how to fix it, unfortunately it depends. You can reverse any receipts/shipments you have done and re-do them to get the cost to re-calculate, but that is only if you can reverse those transactions. I would guess that anything you shipped has already been invoiced, so you would have to cancel the invoices too.
If you can’t reverse a transaction, you could do something with the GL Control Code variance accounts to direct the $$s to an account that accounting has specified. But that won’t clear WIP until the job has been closed and the final capture is run.
You still have a large amount of $$s in WIP, what is the status of the job?
That’s what is so odd. These jobs are completed, closed, received to job/stock/, or shipped. Capture has been run so there should be zero costs sitting in WIP.
