Spin settting is 2000.

Now that we've made it to 5.0, our performance
today has really taken a dive. I'm looking for some
help and suggestions for settings, options, etc to
help speed things back up to around normal.

Server - Compaq Proliant 6000 with 2 Pent. Pro 200 MHz
896 MB RAM, 6-9GB Disks on 3 RAID 1 sets.

We've been watching PROMON most of the afternoon, and
our Buffer Hits are about 90-95 %, but our APW writes are
at about a constant 100%. Also, processor usage fluctuates
anywhere from 30 to 75%, with an occasional spike to almost
100%. With Vantage 3.0, our processor usage tended to stay
right around 15-20%. We haven't added any users, we do have
clients that run Vantage through Citrix, but they don't use the
data collection program(which causes problems?)

We've already increased our APWs by 1 to a total of 3.
The Progress web site said that if the Buffers Flushed stat stays
around 0, then you have have a high enough setting for the APWs.

We have the database configuration set for 40 users,
and 4 users per server.

If anyone knows what might be happening, or something to try
it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully we can get to the
holiday without a user uprising. Thanks for any and all
suggestions.

What are your DB parameters? You can check (and post) the actual settings
if you open your Vantage.LG file and copy the section where the DB was last
started. I just loaded 5.0 on a test server with a measley P233 and 64Mb
and had some luck with parameter tweaking to get memory use down to reasonable.
