6430 did not work RE: Epicor 9 Conversion Program 64

Good Day:

I ran the 6430 conversion, and it only fixed 1,000 of 3,000 errors.
I ran it in conversion mode again. then ran the report and still
2,000 errors.

I also noted that before the update, many had an "Unfirm Reserv"
error and NONE had a "Buy to order" error.
After the update, there were many had an "Buy to order" error
and NONE had a "Unfirm Reserv" error.
Also, many of the Part#'s are different even though the number of
pages was 172 versus 173.

Is that what you get?

Since it seems to create more errors, I do not think I want to run
it.

Hi we are on 8.03.405a and have to run it regularly, more so lately for
some reason, for us the demand figure is incorrect and running this
corrects it. I don't really get how this can be normal, we run a
regenerative MRP every day so how it can't recalculate the demand
correctly is strange.

Yes, I run it every Monday. It catches a part every few weeks or so. Epicor
support told me the cause was not known. I've been monitoring the corrected
parts and trying to identify a pattern. I haven't noticed anything yet.

PartBin is always correct, which is why you never see any issues with
PartTran. The issue is that Vantage/Epicor doesn't always update
PartWhse which holds the summary information. PartWhse is where Part
Tracker, Job Manager, and other programs get these values to save time
by not having to sum the PartBin records. The Conversion programs just
recalc the fields in PartWhse.

So, what if we wrote a Data Directive that checks the values of
PartWhse and PartBin after they are updated? This might help us
discover under which conditions that the table is not being updated.

Thoughts?

Hello Len,

We use Time-Phase, but to be honest I don't know if the information on that screen is correct or not when we see this issue. I have never looked at that screen, but I'll be sure to check it next time.

Subject: [Vantage] Epicor 9 Conversion Program 6430

Does anyone regularly run the Conversion Program 6430? We are having On
Hand
inventory variances atn a disturbingly high rate. Currently Epcior has
us
running this program twice a day. They state that they are aware of a
problem
and that they have not been able to isolate the root cause yet.

Does anyone have any comments or thoughts?

Thanks,
Gene M.

I have asked this question "can we schedule a conversion program to run".
The answer I have had from Epicor is no.
Even our internal developers say that there are certain parameters set when in the Data Admin Tools menu is loaded that they don't have access to. The programs require some of these parameters, so running them using Progress from the command line is not a trivial task.

If anyone has a way of doing this, it would be great to know!
There are multiple programs that need to be run on regular basis, and this would keep some of these issues down.

The other main program we know of that needs to be run on a regular basis is the "Customer Credit Limit" conversion program.

Cheers,
Tobi

Our environment is completed managed and hosted through Epicor. They have confirmed that there is no way to schedule these conversions. We also have the Customer Credit Limit conversion scheduled to run twice a week and someone from our outsourcing group has to run them manually every time.

I am looking for a method to create Receiver Numbers for all Purchase Receipts (Similar to what Avante does). Has anyone done this or have any suggesstions. Thanks Bob JessopIT Director p.s. I have not played around with BPM's yet, my guess that is how to do it.

You are right, you could do this through a BPM as well.

Thanks, I'll have to play around with that one. Looks interesting

Bob,

I've done similar things. On your preprocessing directive when it's adding
the receipt, write a 4GL program that reads the Company file, adds 1 to
Number01, and uses that number as the receiver number.
