Adding Subcontract Opr without Vendor / Supplier

Wondering what people do in order to add a Subcontract Operation, but the Vendor or Supplier for the piece and the Lead time are not known?

We have a dummy vendor setup just for that reason. All of our outside vendor ops are initially set to this dummy vendor. When this gets pulled into a job, or when it is time to run that op, then someone will review and assign a real vendor at the job level.
