Best wishes in your new endeavor!
Thank you so much for that visit @Olga ! It was short but it gave me and several others a lot more confidence. Until we actually used Epicor none of us had ever heard of it because we were growing so fast. That visit meant we knew the company and people and that you had a Montreal presence, and geve my bosses the confidence that they needed.
And needless to say, thank you for all the contributions you’ve made on here.
Well, didn’t want to advertise too blatantly, but about 2 years ago I started a lighting wholesale company online (https://grizzlylighting.ca) , using my garage for inventory. When my son finished high school he joined full time in return for a competitive chunk of my salary . By the end of 2024 he had 20 good repeat customers and had shipped lights as far away as Vancouver. When I was in Australia I came across a long-lost relative who started something almost identical 15 years ago and now has 100 super happy employees. Long story short, I came away from Australia with a great mentor and a plan, and I had found an investment partner too, and knew if I didn’t jump on it I’d settle back into my job forever.
We’re going to only sell to electricians and focus on the little guys. Making it efficient and accessible using technology, where the (Canadian) market is largely controlled by a sort of mafia of consolidated companies who don’t treat the little guys very well. Our goal is to get to know the market and then find items we can manufacture in North America, with a series of branded distributors across Canada
If anyone knows an electrician, or a small business selling to the trade with an owner who wants to sell out and retire, I’d love an introduction!
But otherwise yeah… I’m pretty much trading one career for a new one, but as a level 48 human it seems a good time to do it one last time.
Here’s a slow clap for you and your bravery by all us jealous saps still punching the clock!
Wish nothing but the best for your future success!
Thanks David and all.
I should mention that Ranger Design is recruiting for my role (Director - Business Applications) and that our parent company is recruiting for the role I would have started answering to later this year - IT Director for about 30 sister companies. Both roles may not be tied to a specific Clarience location, either, and they have a pretty cool vision building a North American manufacturing powerhouse.
love that, congrats, and good luck to ya!
Not gonna lie. I’ve long held a conspiracy theory that you’re the same Kevin and you just returned with a super positive attitude and poorly constructed alias.
I can’t hit release dates either.
What’s the name of the company? Reduction Revolution?
Haha nope but I know them. I’ve teamed up with an Adelaide company Voltex.
