Create a job to manufacture part A. Part B would be a material part of
part A.
If you are doing nothing to Part B prior to it's shipment to the
subcontractor, then the first operation would be a subcontract op for
outside assembly.
A PO would be required for the subcontract and when the item is
received, it is a PO receipt back to the job for Part A.
Now you have the material and the outside costs for Part A. in the job.
If you do nothing else to the part subsequent to the receipt of the PO,
you can either ship it out or place it in inventory.
Either way, you have the cost of part a broken down into Material and
Subcontract costs.

Subject: [Vantage] Another Consignment inventory Question
Hello,
I have gone through the previous postings on this subject and still
have a question.
Here is our scenario.
Product A = Part B + Part C
We have a contract manufacturer building product A for us. The
challenge is that we supply Part B and they purchase Part C from one
of their suppliers. We do not want to "sell" Part B to them as this
activity would affect our margins and they would have to charge a
mark-up so it would not affect their margins. The other requirement
is that when we receive Product A into stock it needs to be costed
correctly. We have not been able to find an eloquent way of handling
this and was hoping someone on this list had some ideas.
Thanks,
Rob
