Followup to prior message:
I copied the entire FONTS section from Vantage.ini into Mfgsys.ini and now the font messages are gone.
So on to the next problem - whatever it might be.

OK, this is where it gets strange. There is only MFGSYS.ini and VTG for Vantage 6.0. And both of these are radically smaller with a LOT fewer lines. The Vantage.ini has lots of font into but the MFGSYS.ini has very little.
I am going to try copying some lines from vantage.ini into mfgsys.ini and see if that allows it to find the font settings. But something in the standard installation is sure messed up.

pathing looks out of place.
I do get all kinds of font not found messages when using provision and add
the font path to provision's propath.

OK, while I still have a chance of catching some of the few working today
still at their office.....
I finally got the schema change done for 5.20 to 6.0. After answering OK
about 200 times to font not found messages.
Now when I try to run Vantage for first time to start conversions I again
have to OK messages about fonts 8,23 and 24 not found. I know I've seen
font stuff in some ini file somewhere but incase I can't find it I'll quick
ask for a quick point in the right direction.
Anyone know where I can track down these fonts and maybe specify something
else?
