we’ll have to find a course in nashville next time or vegas in the mountains!
Oh that sounds like fun! I should have mentioned that I’m not all that good however…I don’t have arm strength for long drives. My putts are usually pretty good though. We have 3 portable baskets that we set up around the yard sometimes and practice with — while trying not to get crazy and hit the neighbor’s house.
My wife’s a knitter. She doesn’t like that I call her yarn bank the “skeink.”
I always remind her to knit responsibly and to never share needles…
Yeah I feel like my arm is going to fall off every time I play so I should probably try and chill out throwing it “hard”
OMG that’s hilarious! My husband would love the “skeink” term – so of course I will NEVER tell him!
Btw…it’s very difficult to knit or crochet responsibly! However, should we ever need them, I have enough blankets, scarves and hats in our house to supply the entire neighborhood!
Only done this one but always wanted to try again.
It’s fun
You into iNav or Ardupilot?
No, Just line of sight. Worked on designing an RC 3d printed tank this winter and was thinking of Arduino… Maybe put blades on it and mow the flying field ???
Ardupilot has a surface/rover option
Stealing this to use on my girlfriend. We usually joke she’s a happy hooker, so this humor is right up her alley!
I’m down for a relaxing, temperature appropriate, beverage optional, leisurely game of disc golf! @utaylor @Randy
I used to play frisbee football back in the late 80’s in an informal league up in Jersey. I definitely cannot do THAT anymore.
Pickleball
A great game indeed!
Can’t believe it took someone this long to mention disc golf! On the off chance anyone else reading this is going to the EUG meeting outside of Pittsburgh on 7/25 I would play afterwards if it isn’t disgustingly hot/humid. I have been playing for a few years and am very average, happy to lend discs to anyone that wants to try it out.
Only boring hobbies.
Bike stuff. Not the sporty kind, more like the shenanigans kind. Doing regular life stuff like moving or hardware store trips looks like shenanigans to most folks, which makes it feel like shenanigans, which makes it fun. Not to be confused with bike mischief. I think I got too old for bike mischief.
Coffee roasting. It’s how to get the best coffee on the market for cheap, not that the difference is so much as to make it worth the effort unless you enjoy the act of roasting coffee. Or absolutely have to have access to properly fresh coffee and/or lots too small to be otherwise available.
A friend asked me to help upgrade his Mill Cities 500g roaster with a new fan and propane control. He dropped it off with a box that had a VFD for the 3ph fan and a Dwyer differential pressure controller! Had a fun time in the garage welding up ducting for the fan, wiring up the VFD, and telling him the Dwyer won’t work for what he wants to do. We roasted a batch in my garage yesterday. It looks like a fun hobby! Phase 2 will be to automate the propane control.
MCR 500 roaster
Issues with the temp probe:
500g of fresh roasted beans!
Wow, I just got an espresso maker… might need to hit y’all up.
It is a fun hobby! I started out with a hot air popcorn popper, which usually requires a modification or two, and can be really controllable with a little more hacking. Seriously. Popcorn poppers are not hard to turn into really excellent small batch roasters. Went through a few other methods over the years, wound up back at air roasting with an SR800, which is essentially a fancypants hotrodded popcorn popper.
This reminds me of a recent fun coffee project. At an office surplus shop I spotted a superauto espresso shaped object languishing in the castoff corner, inquired, and took home an obscene deal. I’d have been perfectly happy just to have something to tinker with. I got a working coffee robot as a bonus.
Hobbies? Oh, where to begin:
My wife says I have an unhealthy obsession with collecting filament for my 3D printer…
I love me a good puzzle…
A great past-time of mine is snooping around trying to figure out why the fire and police departments are at my hotel at 1:00 in the morning…
I love to pretend that I am “Free Fallin” like Tom Petty while running down a snow and ice covered driveway.
But, most importantly, is my gaming collection
