Sue,
You might want to consider having an AutoIT script or similar running for
each user that watches for this error and clicks the OK. Unfortunately we
do not use TS for Vantage here, so I have not attempted to solve this on TS
myself.

I've gone up to port 9999 and that still doesn't work - I've tried
everything but think I may be overlooking something quite simple. Yep,
we're all on TS and the error just creates hostility with the users -
even though it doesn't disrupt anything at all after you click "OK".

The reason for this is the port is currently open on the computer that
Vantage is running on. This can be fore various reasons including
running
multiple copies of Vantage on the same computer (TS see below) and the
port
being in use by another application. This setting has nothing to do
with
the Vantage server and relates only to the client ports. Other than TS,
you
should be able to find a port that is available.

I thought this had been discussed from time to time but can't find it in my archived messages. What exactly has to be done to make the Business Activity Manager send email. I have one setup to log changes to customer addresses and would like to have it send an email message to a key user who is responsable for keeping the custoemr data correct. I have set the Company email settings but am unlear as to the port numbers (from prior messages am using 5679 and 25). Just to start with the sending email address I am using is Administrator@.....com - I will probably create a special account sometime after getting it to work.

Is there a service or something that needs to be turned on? Right now nothing happens at all - no errors or messages, just no email message. The help screens are pretty worthless for explaining anything or having examples.

I would still like an answer as to why we get "port busy" errors when
logging onto Vantage - I've removed any references to ports on the other
test databases and no matter what port I use in Live - we are still get
port busy errors. Tech support did enlighten me in that I did not know
there was a port " 0 " so I changed that in the other DB's. Is this a
touchy option in Vantage that anyone else is experiencing? Sometimes we
get the error and sometimes we don't.

Are you running Terminal Services? This will cause the error.

The reason for this is the port is currently open on the computer that
Vantage is running on. This can be fore various reasons including running
multiple copies of Vantage on the same computer (TS see below) and the port
being in use by another application. This setting has nothing to do with
the Vantage server and relates only to the client ports. Other than TS, you
should be able to find a port that is available.

I've gone up to port 9999 and that still doesn't work - I've tried
everything but think I may be overlooking something quite simple. Yep,
we're all on TS and the error just creates hostility with the users -
even though it doesn't disrupt anything at all after you click "OK".
Users .... don't get me started.
