BPM to delete rows

Rob,

Since they are replace POs, the PO, partnum and date combo will be the
same until they move a date.

Karen,
Eroding business activity a year ago squashed our planned purchase of
Service Connect - so I can't advise on that. (I'm sure others in the
group can. We're blessed w/ some superb group members out there.)

Do your customers reliably use unique PO #'s when transmitting EDI
orders? If so, Cust PO#, partnum & date (in combo) may enable you to ID
change versus new orders.

Rob,

We are trying to use Vantage EDI. These are always replacements. There
is no way to tell Vantage which release to update ? as the customer(s)
can move a date forward or back, can have several of these in one EDI
transaction. With the date match, we can at least have them close.

These likely are stock products and timing of processing will make the
pack issue not relevant.

I have logged a case now with Epicor?

I would be interested if you have any ideas about how to use Service
Connect to delete these closed releases or if you have an idea how to
match these releases and still keep the logic for firm zones, partial
shipments etc.

Thanks,

Karen

I figured there was more to it Karen. (Thx.)

Is to pure Vantage EDI or have you cooked up your own process? (If your
own process via Service Connect or some other method, can you adjust
inbound EDI packet schema & your process to differentiate between change
orders versus new orders and - again - simply update the existing versus
deleting existing and re-entering?)

BPMs are still greek to me so I can't help with the delete rows desire.
However, from .NET experience, I know that if you exclusively sell
stocked items at least you won't have the complication of also having to
manipulate make-direct linked jobs (which is what 98% of our order line
releases are).

Depending upon your ship processing (& your policies with customer order
changes - as well as how strictly they are adhered to), you may also
need to consider how to handle order releases already entered for
pending future shipment as a Pack ID detail.

Why would you want to do that? Deleting the closed release will remove
the plan that you were going to ship it. By keeping the closed release
you show that you planned to ship but didn't ship any and the release
was cancelled. Instead a memo should be placed as to why the release was
not shipped (Customer Cancelled, Product unavailable, etc.)

Some customers zero out a release and create a new release - moving the
request date. We do not want to keep these releases cluttering up the
order. We want to remove the plan - since the customer moved the date
for the plan and we have a new release for that date now...We have many
of these releases each week.

Any ideas how I can accomplish this?

I don't have a solution for you, but please don't forget to check that the release you're going to delete isn't the only release for the order line.

Why delete & re-enter verus changing existing (& using change log as audit trail on changes)?

Probably missing something - but it sounds like a "because we've always done it this way" process desire (and actually more work).

I figured there was more to it Karen. (Thx.)

Is to pure Vantage EDI or have you cooked up your own process? (If your own process via Service Connect or some other method, can you adjust inbound EDI packet schema & your process to differentiate between change orders versus new orders and - again - simply update the existing versus deleting existing and re-entering?)

BPMs are still greek to me so I can't help with the delete rows desire. However, from .NET experience, I know that if you exclusively sell stocked items at least you won't have the complication of also having to manipulate make-direct linked jobs (which is what 98% of our order line releases are).

Depending upon your ship processing (& your policies with customer order changes - as well as how strictly they are adhered to), you may also need to consider how to handle order releases already entered for pending future shipment as a Pack ID detail.
