Dear Team,
Is there any document available to build a test Epicor server? Or any other method to create a test server? The purpose is before deploying anything in production server try it in test server first.
Thanks

In Epicweb you can find the new install guides just build a fresh server. That or if you are running VMs restore a backup of your production outside your network, change it’s domain membership to a workgroup, change the PC name (fixing everything that breaks along the way because the name changed), rejoin to your domain.
Couple different ways to skin the cat depending on what you want to do and what level of isolation you want.
Thanks Jgiese…if I build a fresh server can I install any dummy license for Epicor? Can I export the running VM from Hyper-V and import in another isolated Hyper-V?
no you need an actual valid Epicor license.
Thanks Josecgomez… In that case if I export the VM from Hyper-V and import it in another isolated Hyper-V the Epicor license will work there, right? I am just trying to build a test Epicor server isolated from network.
Just install your original epicor license…
Can I install the same original Epicor license in two different servers?
Sure
Thank you. I will try it.
Hi Joshua,
I have created two VMs in a separate hyper-v copying form the hard disk of original Epicor Apps and SQL server. These two VMs I have created in isolated network with the IP address of 192.168.1.7 for Apps and 192.168.1.8 for SQL. I have changed the hostname of both servers. These servers can ping each other. I am not familiar with Epicor and need some support. Now what modification do I need to deploy in both Apps and SQL servers to make the test environment workable?
Thanks
Sazzad
If you changed IPs and host names SQL is not going to be happy you have re configuring to do to make that work properly. I don’t know off the top of my head what that might be. If you want to do the copy paste way don’t change any of that info but put them in a virtual network together away from everything else same hostnames and IPs. Even better, just build a new vm with SQL and Appservers all in one and use that fresh for a test server.
google change sql server name and follow the top results process.
Then you need to open up the epicor admin console on the app server. Use section 8 of the install guide to configure Epicor server. Edit and redeploy the application server, changing any entries from the old name to the new name. Click deploy and solve any errors that come up.
