Change Logs

Take a look at the ChgLogTB and ChgLogGA tables.

Has anyone created a report that will pull out all the instances of
where
there are change logs turned on for a screen or field? Rather not
re-invent
the wheel if someone has already created one.

thanks

Good Morning:

Is there a way to create a report either in Report Builder or
Crystal, that will display all change log records for orders? I
can't seem to find a field in any of the order tables that store this
information, although I may have missed something as well.

Thanks,

Mark Smith

The data is stored in the CHGLog table.
Thanks
Jeremy

Where in Vantage do you set up what fields you want to track on the change log?

Thanks,

Jasper

Joe,

This is found under System Management, Utilities and Business Activity
Manager.

There you can setup a new change log by picking the table and then the
fields you are looking to track. The actions tab is where you can
activate the log.

We are currently using change logs and have been for quite some time. our problem is that we have noticed that these change logs have grown rather large in size over the years and we would like to delete out old information. Has anyone come up with a safe way of doing this? According to the help desk the ONLY way to remove data from the change logs is to get in touch with custom programming. I have been looking at the data and it appears that the only table the data resides in is the ChgLog table in the database.

In our test environment I have written a Progress query to look for older (based on field name DateStamp) records and remove them from the change log. This appears to have worked but I was hoping someone else has tried something like this already and could give me some more insight to this. Thank you

Go to System Management\Utilities\Database Purge and Summarize. You'll notice the Change Log is one of the items you can purge. We intend to start purging everything after two years once we're on Epicor 9. If anyone wants to see items that've been purged, we can always go to the month-end backups we keep for 7 years. (So we'll also keep the last 8.03.xx software for 7 years.)

Hello,

I am looking for change logs within Vantage. There is a table called 'Chglog', however, I can't seem to find any changes to 'Vendor' master table.

Is there another table that keeps track of changes in master vendor file? If there is, is there a tracker for these changes?

Thanks,

Daniel
The chglog table receives changes based on Business Activity Manager
alert settings.

You need to create a BAM alert set to log changes on particular tables
and fields you're interested in. Those will wind up in chglog showing
who changed what and when.

Its not always obvious what really happened from the chglog messages,
but it's a start. But you do have to turn the logging on for each table
individually and pick which fields you're interested in (or you can
bring 'em all over in the maintenance program by clicking the
double-chevrons).
