I’ve already passed that stage…primal screams on a quasi-regular basis.
Back on topic as this just popped into my head…we’ve heard about the smart client…so how will DMTs work? Or is there a web-DMT in 2024 now?

Agreed. Be interesting to see what that becomes.
It can. And much easier in app studio than in the client.
Even I will admit, some things are just better in the browser.
Heck how will the MES work? We use the classic MES and it automatically logs in so Production workers can just enter their badge numbers and do their jobs. It is customized and calls menu options.

Look up a few posts
(or down lol)
Service connect has been legacy for years. There are lots of alternatives. Automation studio, your own functions, DMT, etc.
I never could get that to work. It should have just been a BO call. that offers some hope thank you. I can’t honestly think of how some of our customizations can be ported. They are pretty intese and took a long time to make. A year is not going to cut it.
I want to add my thanks to those offering support and ideas for solutions, it means a lot. If it is possible I can usually figure stuff out.
But we have known this has been coming for 4 years at this point.
Service connect is still in play… As I understand it, the “powertools” client will help support Service Connect, DMT, etc that all use services.

There is a browser based MES now. It’s not the best experience but I’m hopeful it will get a lot better by 2026.
We are all living in interesting times.
Bartender now hast its own REST API in the guise of the Print portal. There are a few solution already out there for printing labels and of course you can use SSRS for those simpler label solutions. I agree that Epicor should tradition to working with bartender clout or on prem Bartender print portal…
Yup…just read the power tools post.

We replaced Service Connect a couple years ago with a custom app using the Epicor API. And now they have Automation Studio which we use for some other integrations. The API and/or Automation Studio are great alternatives.
If we can group the kinds of things that people are doing in customizations, we probably could come up with some proposed ideas for Kinetic.
We had the same issue with Bartender in 10.1.600 and the workaround is still with us on the eve of 2024.1…
Victim blaming? Funny one of the programmers at Epicor tried to blame me when I said our users had a complaint about existing functionality.
They are allowed to not like something.
Many places do not have an IT department and inherited customizations. Some places have one IT person. Many places cant afford 200-300 or more per hour for a consultant who may or may not be able to make it work.. When you are keeping a business running you dont plan to throw away your expensive expertise because some people for hand wavy reasons decided to make the screen look different.
My VB code from 10 years ago still works in MS studio…
see the FAQ document page 3 which has the following FAQ:

Service connect should still work it has REST capabilities the last time I looked and I note that inthe kinetic UI soln management that behind the advanced button are options to update SC user and password and external data sources.
