Classic Sunset Officially at 2026.1

That customization needs to be re-written for the Kinetic-based Data Collection program, which is the replacement for classic MES.

Saw that earlier…thanks for the followup. Right now we’re on-prem but that may change…really depends on the best-fit for us going forward.

To be fair, the maturity of the browser client is just now getting to the point where it can seriously be considered usable, and I still have my reservations.

They have come a long way, but I’m still scared.

Do I smell an Epicor Idea? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Will all of the UBAQ/BAQ/Dashboards have to be moved to kinetic as well?

I’d agree. I use it about 50% of the time now. But still run into situations where it just doesn’t work. Or it’s buggy. And there are the times Epicor support says “use the classic client” :smiling_face_with_tear:

A fair number of our customizations use the UD forms just as a blank form to call code. Too bad we couldn’t keep those. While they do call some business objects they are not saving or using the UD form except as a container to hold controls - we were taught this trick from Epicor years ago and our Consultant. That would a good thing to not have to rewrite. Its not like its the Order form its just using UD01 as a place to hold buttons and grids and do UI events.

I am too - and we’re like 95% browser as it is. Primary concerns are DMT (though can’t say I’ve used much recently…which is good) and APR (big one for us, for automated emails and EDI and such).

Good thing we have this forum to cooperate, communicate and commiserate

I understand where you’re coming from. Keeping the business running is what we do, and that’s the value we bring to the table and not VB we wrote ten years ago. Of course, this is way more than making the screen look different. Not having to run around and make sure every .NET Client has updated will certainly reduce our workloads. Being able to view Kinetic on tablets and other non-Windows devices comes for free. The speed is better too.

I recently saw this on LinkedIn and it seems appropriate today:

That’s BS, I’ve jumped from Enthusiasm straight to Denial several times.

Where’s apathy?
I’m on the apathy stage.

I would accept that for home-grown integrations, but Service Connect is integral to the integration between Kinetic and PLM (PRO.FILE). Both vendors are eerily silent on the future of that integration.

Why can’t you use the Kinetic version of UD forms?

Others will correct me if I’m wrong here, but I think this is still possible and it’s just another App in Application Studio. Am I right Studio Artists?

Why can’t you use the Kinetic version of UD forms?

Same question. I’ve used them without issue.

You don’t HAVE to use the UD screens anymore if you don’t actually need to enter data in a UD table. you can just make a whole new app.

Right, but if they’re just wanting to uplift they could.

yes, and with the new APP Studio wizards, this has become a very nice tool to create and update dashboards.
BAQs don’t need any changes… just the dashboard.

We did see some issues with BAQs created in classic when used in the new Kinetic BAQ designer. We also noticed some issues with data sorting and date formats in 2023.1. But Epicor will get that all fixed (they could have already in .2) and your BAQs will still work.
