Client time-out utility

Sarah,

We use Mikes application and it works great. If you purchase the licensed
version you can set each user to a different timeout period. Checkout his
web page for all the details.

Subject: [Vantage] Client time-out utility

Since going on 4.0, we have been experiencing users being locked out of
vantage because there are no licenses available. We did not have this
problem on 3.0 when our data collection licenses could cross over. so, we
are now interested in the client time out utility to close out idle vantage
sessions freeing up licenses. I had saved an email from Michael Podlin from
a while back regarding two different utilities, one from progress and one
that he wrote.

My concern with the Progress utility is that on 98 machines it requires a
reboot. The president and controller of our company use 98 machines and they
are big offenders of idle sessions and I would not want them to have to
reboot even daily. Also, there is only one setting for all users. We would
want to give people like the president and controller more leeway.

My concern with Mike's Application is that if the user had left his machine
idle in the process of adding a record, the license will remain locked.

Mike mentioned that he was going to implement both. I am looking for
feedback from anybody who is using one or both of these applications and how
they are working for you? Have you experienced the issues I have listed
above? If you are using the utilities in conjunction, does that solve the
issues? Please advise.

Thanks!

Sarah
