Cloud Question - headaches?

We are on-premise currently with 2024.2.7 planning to update to at least 2025.2 sometime soon. But wanted to reach out as ask the following:

For the folks that handle the IT (Epicor) what do you normally see as recurring issues when it comes to End users and the Epicor Cloud? (I.E.) my guess would be Speed / response time between inputs, Printing? I am trying to be proactive before the big must move from on-prem to cloud.

We’ve had issues with certain reports not working after updates that require either data fixes or patches in a later update. The most common complaint I get is that response times when doing basic tasks.

There are also outages that happen every now and then such as Azure Outage 10/29/25 - Off Topic - Epicor User Help Forum

So these reports become unusable until data / patch is rolled out? Are these Out of the Box reports or Custom reports?

We use an org-wide network filter, i forgot which one, but it did some weird header modifications to Epicor’s REST calls and we had to disable it for the *.epicorsaas.com domain. It manifested as intermittent speed issues when the underlying connection tested fine, so that was fun.

This is the most recent one I can think of. Core Epicor report that people have made a custom RDD for. But other issues have happened of course.

There are many threads here about cloud issues people have experienced.

We have also had RDD that had to be tweaked after an update. Most often is our Custom Advanced Shipping Notice report, custom Invoice, and custom Sales Order Acknowledgement. I have gotten pretty good at looking at the .txt file of the report that is not working, extracting the Data Definition at the beginning of the .txt file into a different .txt file and then finding an older copy of the same custom report and extracting the same data into another .txt file and then comparing both using the Compare Function in Word. It points out where they have either added columns to the RDD or deleted columns from the RDD. Only takes about 10 minutes to get the info together to do the compare and about another 20 minutes to open up the RDD, find the labels that need to be changed and then either exclude or include the columns for the Label. In other words I have it down to a science.
I do agree that there have been a few outages this year but not all of them affected us. If a different companies database is in the same cloud container as you and they run a big process against their database it can have some effect on the performance of your database.
Otherwise I am happy with the cloud for the most part.

Just my two cents:>)

I would also agree that every outage has not affected us. So don’t think every time you see a post on here about something being out that it affects every Epicor environment.

Yeah, we’ve not been affected every time there is a post here either.
