No clue. I have had it my head that it is only primaries (probably someone told me that sometime in the last 2 years & it just stuck as fact - whether it is or not).
If you find a way, please let me know.

Subject: [Vantage] dashboard browse
Im trying to filter a dashboard via a dashboard browse function and so
far it seems that there are a very limited number of columns you can
filter by. Id like to grab a ShortChar field off the JobOper table but
so far my investigation only allows me to pick key or primary table
indexes like partnum, jobnum, custID etc...has anyone else seen this or
found a work around? Im trying to concoct a context menu scheme from an
user defined field so far this is the gap in my bridge.
