Dashboard Publish question

I’m working on converting our classic dashboards to kinetic. I’ve run across a dashboard that has a publish on it, but I don’t see it being consumed anywhere.

Why would you publish the data but not consume it within the dashboard? Is this just bad form or is it doing something?

Is the published value being displayed on the title bar of the dashboard? That’s the only other place I can think of published data being used other than in a subscription in another query.

We all inherit “Foreign Intent” Maybe it’s used - maybe it is not. Many start down one path and then things change.

Your question is relevant and correct to ask. Sorry i can only offer Zen regurgitation

If you open up the properties you can look and see what field is being published for a hint at what it might be.

If it’s a dashboard that’s embedded into a customization, it could be used there (although that’s unlikely)

No, it’s not being displayed anywhere that I can tell.

I looked at the published columns and they are publishing all of the columns in the dashboard.

I guess I will chalk it up to someone starting something and not finishing it or just playing around with the dashboard.

You do sound very Mr. Mayagi’ish.
I do think your right, someone started or was playing around with the publish and never removed/fixed it. In the vast world of Epicor I wanted to make sure there wasn’t something I was missing.
