Deleting a Job

Ooops, sorry, we did have it in the correct order. I just typed it out of
order. We didn't have any material requirements on the job at all. And we
don't backflush either.

I have a question from our Job Manager/Scheduler/Customer Account Manager.

A job was created that had a Packing Slip and Sales Order created for it. It was decided that the job should be removed/deleted altogether. The Packing Slip and Sales order were removed from the job. When we go in to delete the job it says that it cannot delete the job because material transactions are held against the job. We never had material transactions for this job. This has been happening for a long time now, but we have just ignored it and marked it off as "just one of those things". Well, now it's getting irritating. We don't remember if it has only happened with this version or not. Is it one of those things that a patch has fixed? I usually don't upgrade our patches unless I see a real reason too. So, we're not on the latest patch yet. We're on Vantage 4.00.812

Any ideas? Thanks!

As soon as you created a packing slip for the job, the system created a
material transaction MFG-CUS for that part. Deleting the packing slip only
creates a negative quantity for the MFG-CUS transaction it does not remove
the material transaction.

Wendy,

I am not sure, but it seems like you are looking at this backward - the
sales order comes first, then the job produces the product to fill the
requirement of the sales order, then the pack slip closes the sales order.
As far as the job goes - did you have any material requirements on the job
at all? And do you backflush? I guess I would need more information to try
to help you out - we have been on 4.00 since the first, but that part of it
is not that disimilar to 3.00. We are on the lastest patch of 4.00.904
though and there were quite a few fixes in the patches that our users are
commenting on.

I have a question from our Job Manager/Scheduler/Customer Account Manager.

A job was created that had a Packing Slip and Sales Order created for it.
It was decided that the job should be removed/deleted altogether. The
Packing Slip and Sales order were removed from the job. When we go in to
delete the job it says that it cannot delete the job because material
transactions are held against the job. We never had material transactions
for this job. This has been happening for a long time now, but we have just
ignored it and marked it off as "just one of those things". Well, now it's
getting irritating. We don't remember if it has only happened with this
version or not. Is it one of those things that a patch has fixed? I
usually don't upgrade our patches unless I see a real reason too. So, we're
not on the latest patch yet.. We're on Vantage 4.00.812

Any ideas? Thanks!

Would this explain why sometimes we were able to delete jobs and sometimes
not? Our deleted jobs might not have had the packing slip created for
them....................
