Did you know? Feature Spotlights for 2025.1 are starting to appear

We have been changing how we disseminate knowledge about upcoming features… WE ARE experimenting with an even earlier release of this information.
For SOME of the upcoming Kinetic 2025.1 features, we are pre-publishing the Feature Spotlight videos, and producing POLLS in Epicor Ideas… one for each new feature. The POLL has an attached video where you can see the demonstration. Then you can vote in the poll and also give your opinion…

The polls are available here: [Log In - Epicor Identity](https://Epicor Feature Spotlight Polls)

Note that this is still an experiment, and more will be added as we adjust and enhance our process.

BACKSTORY/HISTORY:

  1. about 18 months ago, we “used” to have a series of internal meetings called “Demo Days”. We would record these sessions and then customers/partners on the Controlled Release program could view these log videos to gain insights on what was coming in the next release.
  2. BUT… this also conflicted with other meetings. I was responsible for several demo days, but could not attend due to needing to travel to Australia for Insights… SO… I decided to pre-record my demos… each new feature got a separate recording. WOW… this worked… but how can we make it better?
  3. for Kinetic 2024.1, we decided to push ALL demo days videos into separate Feature Preview video recordings… (nearly 50 recordings). The idea was that it would be easier to find informaiton on any feature since each one was a separate video. We HOPED to make these available to ALL customers (not just controlled release), but we didnt have the process down well enough to do this.
  4. for Kinetic 2024.2, we did it… we renamed “Feature Previews” to "Feature Spotlights. We adjusted our process to make the videos even shorter, and we were able to publish all the videos in the Epicor Learning Site (Search for “Feature Spotlight”). You can see each new feature there.

This latest “polling” is our next step to being more transparent about what is coming and to hopefully gain better feedback into what we are producing.
Please feel free to visit the polls, watch the videos, and leave comments.
Thanks.

Is there any information available about the browser first plans for 2025.1 yet? Originally we were told that there would be no client login available at 2025.1, then that changed to browser default in 2025.1, but it would be helpful to understand exactly what that means so we can be prepared. Based on this thread it sounds like 2025.1 is code complete so can the answer be shared? Specifically:

If the client shortcut is going to launch the browser by default, where will that default be controlled. For example, will we be able to make a change in the sysconfig file to change the default back to the client? Will users be able to control their own default setting? What about the MES login, what steps will be required to launch the existing custom MES menu item in the client 2025.1?

I like the Part Tracker change, but if Part Trx History can be incorporated, why not Time Phase?

I’m particularly also curious about the “Cross Ref” under Activities>Related Pages.
Is Customer Part Cross-Reference available there? It really is a pain when doing part setup or reviewing a part to have to go to another app to create or lookup a customer partnumber.

These all sound like things that need new Epicor Ideas… yes, these are all possibilities.

Cross references were noted in the original idea.
