Digest Number 1456

It's to bad their isn't a radio button to do the conversion either way per
part. Either multiply or divide, same for dimensioning product, same for BOM
qty per.

Or give us 12 decimal places for accurate calculations.

You would think any mathematical or field width limitation would be a number
one priority to fix.
(By the way the Vendor Part Cross Ref field is only 20)

Ok, I picked a poor example. We buy bearings that are 150, 300, 500, 6600
per box. The 150 per box put 149.25 bearings in stock when I purchases 1
box from the vendor. The PUM is box, the IUM is each, the factor is .00667.

Did I do something wrong?

I tried the .083 factor and it worked fine. Use our qty 12 ea, then .083
factor,
and the Vendor qty will compute to 1 case (you have to change the Ea
yourself).
It seems strange, but if you think it through you get used to it.

The conversion factor to convert purchased units of measure to inventory
units of measure seems backwards to me. For example, if you buy in cases
(12 bottles per case) and inventory in each you have a problem. The PUM
factor is 1/12 which is .083333 which does not convert cleanly.

Our old system was factoring each per case which worked fine. Fractional
cases per each doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?
