Stephen, would these steps be performed through the DMT/Engineering/BOM selection?

Can DMT be used to update methods?
Structure?

For instance where the MOM needs to have an additional part # in the BOM.

Or for when the part # in the method is wrong, can this data be updated via DMT?
Yes, if say you wanted to swap a part you provide the mtlSeq and new part number and it will allow you to swap the part, you only need to pass one row into DMT to do this.
If you want to remove items you need to create a separate import file that will just to the deletes.

But you can in effect make any changes you want, add reference designators, add co parts.
Relate items to operations, change QtyPers etc.

You can also do this to Jobs and quote methods.

Hi Jim,

I am currently importing some new BOMs into a test db using DMT (running as I’m writing this!). I have created 4 imports for adding a new revision, adding operations, adding materials and unapproving the old revision.

The revision is done through Inventory – Part – Part Revision.

The Operations are done through Engineering – Bill Of Operations.

The Materials are done through Engineering – Bill Of Materials.

Rather than start from scratch, I use Crystal to grab the data for the current revision/operations/materials. Export the reports to excel. Modify the data/add to the data as required and then import into a test db for checking before updating the live db. You can also use access or excel to export the data, in this instance I just thought Crystal was the easiest tool.

I would use the same process for updating an existing revision.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Darryn
