Document management

803.404

I have listed entries in the Document Type Maintenance. BTW, this is pretty cool because according to the yahoo group logs, it appears users had some problems before with having to move documents to a new location. Now they include a field for BASE URL and this can be changed as needed, and everything else is relative (very nice change). There is a section of the program that says "REQUIRED FOR" with checkboxes for Receipt and for Shipment. I would like to have some of the documents be required for shipment (do we think that is what this checkbox is really for?).

I have Listed a few file extensions in the document association program.
I have view commands and print commands listed. So far, so good.

So, I go into the part master for record XXX and add attachments.
I enter the document type that has been checked as REQUIRED FOR SHIPPING and attach the file.

My questions are two:

1) From the document attachment window inside the part master record, I select the attach record and I can press the VIEW button, and the document is launched in the proper program. However, the PRINT button is completely greyed out and un-selectable. I was thinking that perhaps it was because I do not have any printers set up inside Vantage, but this does not seem to be the case.

2) What is the pocess for utilizing the REQUIRED FOR SHIPPING checkmark in the DOCUMENT TYPE program? Is it designed to prompt the user running the customer shipment process? Is it supposed to auto-print?
When I process a shipment with this part that has the attachments established, nothing seems to appear on the shipment screen. If I click on the attachments button from that screen, it allows me to attach documents to that pack record...but there seems to be some sort of disconnect?

Does anyone have ANY ideas?

Thanks
Carey

Long story but I bought a video card (NVIDIA 9800GT from MSI) that had no mention online (at Zones) of needing a monster power supply in the PC. But the box says 400W with 12V rated for 24A or 26A. The PC as a 300W and 12V tops out at 11A. I have a BFG 650W power supply with the required SATA connectors for my PC and even dedicated PCI Express 6 pin power connectors but the 12V tops out at 20A. Now the card supports dual monitor but I plan to use only one so I was hoping the "real" power draw might be less.

Anyone out there ever hedge on the minimum specs and get away with it? Do the stated requirements on a video card usually have some margin built in?

No, and don't! Look, Power Supplies are cheap but Vid Cards and Motherbaords aren't aren't. I lost an ASUS Striker II and ASUS ENGTX280 Graphics Card. They were under warrenty, but you know it takes 2 weeks or more to get your stuff back. I had to rely on an older system to get me by with some of my gaming.

That seems like a stinking lot of amperage for a PC. I'm thinking you're probably only getting 15A through any power strip or UPS. But, I'm no electrical engineer either.

Thanks (and for the other couple responses too). I think the 12 volt amperage translates to a lot less real power than at 110V. I see the BFG power supply states the 5V max amperage is 54A.

I am waiting for a reponse from Zones on HP power supplies that will fit the case and do the job. Otherwise I will shop for one within specs per Jonathan's and Doug's (off-list) recommendations.

Thank again,

I'm trying to setup the e-mail integration with Vantage 803 and have a question. Were using Exchange 2007 and they're asking for SMPT mail settings in the company configuration. Has anyone done this? If so can you give me some pointers.

Epicor support just told me to enter an e-mail address for the user under security maintenance. Then go into company configuration and enter port 7001 for the e-mail link and enter an SMTP server address. I've tried the FQDN for my Exchange server and the IP address, but still get an error when sending a file from the sales order module.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Another option is that you setup a Linux SMTP relay that will relay mail to
an outside smtp server. This is what we have done for our vantage. But our
email is hosted so this is why we needed the relay.

Hi Paul,

Is the error that Exchange doesn't accept a relay? If so, see:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232021(EXCHG.80).aspx

Mark W.
I'll check into that, but the error I'm seeing is related to an incorrect "SMPT" server setting. ???

Application Error:

Failed to connect to SMTP server; Email attempt aborted. Please confirm the SmtpServer setting in the xxx.Mfgsys AppSettings file.

This could still be your server rejecting the SMTP connection due to the relay settings.

Did you check the SMTP setting in the client's mfgsys config file?

Try testing with this:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995718.aspx

Vantage may not be telling you why the attempt aborted. The default setting
for Exchange (and most MTAs) is to NOT allow relaying. We told our Exchange
Server to allow relaying but only from our Vantage server's IP address.

Mark W.
We're running Exchange 2007, and used the Exchange server's DNS name for the Company SMTP server and port 25 for the Company email link port.

Thanks,
Ed
