E9: 1GB database + 35 users = 12 GB of RAM consumption

I would try to get in contact with Ben Nixon.

Something is definitely wrong here... if your DB is only 1GB but your
RAM usages jumps way up to 12GB. Sounds like some bad data of some kind
or maybe a customized report/query/process that is sucking up all your
resources. Ben could help you determine the problem for a fee. In my
opinion he's worth every penny.

OS is Windows Server 2008 (not R2) x64.

If I stop all my app servers and DB and then restart them, I start
around 2GB in use for Epicor and 4GB total, which is why I'm surprised
when it jumps to 12GB over the course of a day.

I will check out the performance guide.

Thanks for the ideas Zac.

Just caught the DB size in the subject... hehe.

So follow up question would be how much RAM is in use after a system
reboot?
What OS is running on the server?

Upgrade to 9.05.605? hehe... pulling teeth I know.

When we went live on 9.05.602 we had similar questions/issues. Is it
normal? It seems to be. This is also dependant on the number of app
servers you have it set to create and the number of users per app
server. Aside from that the only other idea I have is the system is set
to reserve a large amount of RAM for caching the DB.

My only questions I would have are
1. did you setup the DB yourself or did a consultant do it?
2. how big is your DB?
3. Under the 905 section of epicweb there is a performance tuning guide,
have you been through it?

Hi All,

I've posted before about there seeming to be a large amount of RAM being
consumed on our Epicor server.

We are on 9.04.507A Progress.

I initially called tech support because it seemed like every time
finance did any kind of posting the RAM consumption would shoot up and
not come down. They told me my initial setup of 12 GB of ram was not
enough so I upped to 28 GB. The server is running around 12 GB in use
for just Epicor (14 total), which seems high.

Is anyone else running into this? Is this normal? If not, any tweaks out
there that can be shared?

Thanks.
