eCommerce Hosting that Integrates with Vantage

We have sites currently running where we have written services that
listen to a mailbox and as the email from the shopping cart is delivered
it strips out the data, checks whether the customer and contact already
exists, if not creates one and adds the order into Vantage on credit
hold

A function in the order entry screen then allowed users to take web
orders off credit hold once credit card payment confirmation was taken.

You can then use simple Vantage alerts to inform the customer of
progress.

Easier to implement?

That's good to know. I definitely want something that's entirely hosted
as a service and is low-cost. I'm only selling a small number of parts
this way, and I don't want to have to worry about security, credit
cards/PCI issues, hosting, etc. I just want an 'e-catalog/storefront
service' with an API.

I may need to bring my eCommerce in-house for one of my business
units. If we do, I'd want to find a hosted eCommerce provider that
takes care of the catalog and order management piece, and gives me an
easy way to integrate with Vantage on the backend in terms of notifying
me of the new order, and enabling me to notify it when the order has
shipped so we can notify the customer and get paid.

Clearly having a real SOAP-based API is key here. I don't want to
touch any of the bits of the storefront system if I don't have to.

Anyone know of a clear winner here? I know there's a new eCommerce
system for E9, but I'm on 8.03. I've heard CustomerConnect is a bit
clunky and I wouldn't mind outsourcing as much here as I can if I can
keep the costs reasonable.
